0301. Moses Blood Meader (1837 – 1917)

Moses Blood Meader, son of Elisha Meader (1788-1877) [0165] and Widow Abigail Webster (  –  ), was born in Haverhill, NH November 1, 1837 and died October 2, 1917. When of age he went to California where he was employed by his uncle Moses [0169]. After returning to New Hampshire he married Mary Ann Bacon on April 15, 1865. She was born in Wardsboro, VT [Volume II shows Waldboro, NH] December 9, 1835 and died June 24, 1924, daughter of Timothy Read Bacon [Volume II shows Reed Bacon] and Betsey Chace. As a young woman she learned the tailors trade in St. Johnsbury, VT, having previously attended the Haverhill town schools. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Haverhill and an active member of the Women’s Relief Corps of the Natt Westgate G. A. R. Post.

After marriage Moses Meader became interested in farming. He purchased Colby Hill and lived at the Cheney place in Center Haverhill. Before that time he carried on the J. W. Jackson farm for his brother-in-law, Sumner Bacon.
